From the President

Our Annual Meeting is coming up. Please come and participate; we are electing the next Board of Governors, and the Chairs of the Committees will be available to hear your input on how we can make the pool even better. I hope to see you there.

Since the last meeting, a lot has happened at the pool. Over the winter, the pool was completely re-plastered, the damaged pool beam (the top and side of the pool itself) was replaced, the leaking skimmers were re-sealed, the leaking pool returns in the bottom of the pool were replaced, and the coping was also replaced. The swim team paid for the dolphins in the baby pool.

The pool filtration system also had work done on it; one sand filter failed and was replaced, and another was just added to improve water clarity.

The pavilion and buildings were spruced up with new paint, and new umbrellas were purchased for the deck. A gas grill was purchased for the pavilion, and a kid latch was installed for the baby pool.

This year, the adult Volley Ball League really took off. I am calling it a “League” as we have had at least one night where over thirty people showed up to play. Thanks again to Pat McKay for running the show.

A special “hat’s off” to the Cape St. Claire Dolphins! The team rocketed out of the middle division last year after winning every meet into the tough top division and won two meets – contests were really close. The kids performed really well and, as always, displayed real sportsmanship and helped each other out. Kudos to: Kirk, Katherine, Helen, Judy and the coaches, and especially all the parents that make the team possible.

The swim lesson program conducted adult swim lessons for the first time this year. The participants have really benefitted from it and we will be running it again next year.

And finally, we have brought an adult social night back to the pool: The PIG ROAST! It is going to be a lot of Fun. There are a limited number of tickets left and they can be purchased from Pia Wingblade or Keeper (the guard with the Mohawk) at the pool.
Highest Regards,
Craig Madden
